A Drive, a Pint, and a Q & A May 13, 2023

Well that was fun. Met lots of people, there were at least 19 vehicles, possibly more. We met at Ninkasi in Eugene, OR. Then lined up for a drive around Eugene. The route took us from Ninkasi to the Crest neighborhood, up Amazon, through the Saturday Market (accidentally), around Skinner Butte Loop, and back to Ninkasi. It was getting hot!

We then sat down for a drink and meal at Ninkasi. Just to let you know, their hamburger was amazing, it tasted like something between a shaved steak and Philly sandwich.

Jesse, Joe, and Dwayne Lum answered some questions from the crowd. Questions for 5/13/23:

Doors - there are lots of people that paid for them OVER 3 years ago that still don’t have them, especially people in California. All I got was that they are very high on the priority list and that the doors are excruciatingly slow in production.

Platform 1.x is frozen. I got the distinction impression they don’t have money/people to move forward with 1.x and are invested in the current model. The next version will have doors as a priority. Jesse said doors are very important, but they have to stick with the current version of the FUV which will not accommodate full doors.

One person asked if the software advances from Faction will make its way into our FUVs. Jesse said, no, unless you rent out your FUV when it isn’t in use. Torque vector steering will not happen. There might be an additional mechanical upgrade for steering in the future.

They will not expand to South Dakota any time soon, Rick.

Jesse talked about market demand. He claimed there was a company that looked at micro mobility and found that the niche that Arcimoto fills has Arcimoto at the top of that niche.

Dwayne talked about future changes in 2024 and beyond with cylindrical batteries and software. Much will not be backward compatible. Software development is currently on pause for things like giving you reports on the system and charging updates/settings. Over the air will happen using wifi, not 4g or cell due to security.

Also, ABS will not be an option any time soon. It is too complicated and affects other parts.

And finally, Arcimoto will be revealing something in the future that we will be pretty excited about. The crowd begged for a clue but Jesse wouldn’t budge.

Justin, were you at the Rally? Blue and black painted FUV?

Yes my wife and I were both in attendance and we are happy owners of a Blue & Black 2022 FUV that we got last fall (~3900 miles so far). Looking forward to future events if/when they occur.

Justin, it was great to meet you and your FUV. You’re certainly putting on the miles! I’m at 3 years exactly with just over 11k miles.
