FUV Seatbelt Locking and Safety Feature

If you've ever parked your FUV on a sloped parking spot to find your seatbelt locked when you get in to go somewhere, this might just be normal behavior. Remember, the FUV wouldn’t drive without the seatbelt plugged in.

Seatbelts have a safety feature in which the seatbelt retractors lock once they reach enough of angle. You can often coax the retractor from its locking position by gently pulling a few times. Some have found it locks more easily when the FUV is tilted on its side rather than tilted front to back.

The locking feature is part of a  crash detection mechanism that locks the belts if it thinks the vehicle has hit something or been hit. It might be that the FUV is more sensitive to tilting.
