How to Charge Your Dead 12v Battery

Charging a dead 12V battery depends on the year. 2019-2020 vehicles you must remove the left kick panel (8 screws and a plastic clip), then you can attach alligator clips to the posts on the battery. Negative on the left, positive on the right.

2021 and newer models have a 12V accessory socket in the dash which can have a charger plugged in directly, with the appropriate adapter.
For both styles, the recommended capacity range is 5-8 amps. If you get a trickle charger less than 5 amps, and connect up straight to the battery, you need to trip the reset so it will charge up. After it is charged up, remove the charger and reset the battery reset connector. See pages 19-28 of the FUV Maintenance Quick Reference Guide.

If you need to purchase a charger, make sure it has the ability to charge the type of battery you have. For instance, the original 12v battery is a lead acid AGM.

If you go ahead and replace the 12v battery with a LiFePO4 lithium, make sure you purchase a charger that supports LiFePO4 lithium batteries.

Once AGM batteries die, they become untrustworthy, so you'll probably end up needing to replace it and LiFePO4 lithium is the way to go.
